Drum Teacher | Drum Lessons Ian Macchiusi – Drums Percussion and Beat Making

Ian brings a vast musical background and impressive credentials to his drumming instruction. A York University graduate, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Jazz Performance), a Masters degree in Ethnomusicology and is currently working toward his Ph.D with a thesis in Ethnomusicology. As part of his graduate degree, his work as a teaching assistant involves lecturing, supervising, advising and marking students on music and culture as well as musical history.

Complementing these academic achievements is over 20 years of drumming experience with a wide variety of rock bands, jazz combos and singer-songwriters. Ian has performed with artists such as Transient Noise, HeartCore, Mumble, Drive Channel, Danielle Bourjeaurd, Marianne Turner, and Rayna and the Speck Brothers and has opened for Finger Eleven, Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, The Watchmen, The Pursuit of Happiness and Danko Jones, among others. He has also performed at festivals such as Wakestock, Canadian Music Week and North by Northeast.

Extensive involvement in the recording studio as well as proficiency with music software in the performance and composition of electronic music rounds out Ian’s rich performance experience.Ian’s approach to drumming instruction adapts to the age, ability and interest of each student, providing a truly personalized experience. Whether it’s rock, funk, jazz, blues, Latin, hand drumming or rhythms from other cultures, Ian’s methods combine techniques for reading music, improvisation, syncopation and coordination of the limbs as well as the tools needed to play in a studio environment.

 

Guitar Teacher | Guitar Lessons Carmen Lamont – Guitar

Inspired guitarist and versatile performer Carmen Lamont has been part of the local rock scene for many years, having toured and shared the stage with many notable Canadian artists and bands. Included among these are Maria Del Mar of National Velvet, Andy Curran of Coney Hatch and Drug Plan, Jim Burrows of The Tea Party, renowned LA drummer Randy Cooke, Danny Wood of The Watchmen and Doctor, Canadian Idol winner Ryan Malcolm, and Ray Coburn of Honeymoon Suite.

Carmen studied music throughout her high school years and participated in the Humber College Jazz Program, after which she promptly landed her first recording contract and went on tour. She actively gigs with her pop cover band, The Dualing Divas, as well as her original rock band, Blackfish. On the folk/country side, she regularly works with local folk/country artist Mary Simon in their acoustic duo, Simon & Lamont.

Expert in a broad range of genres, from The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and The Eagles on the acoustic guitar to AC/DC, Foo Fighters, and Metallica on the electric guitar, Carmen approaches music instruction with energy and a personable approach that promotes high levels of enthusiasm and achievement among her students, motivating both beginners and more advanced learners to expand their musical horizons and perfect their techniques in a stimulating, enjoyable environment.

Guitar Teacher Etobicoke Liam Maguire- Guitar and Violin

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Liam graduated from the legendary Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, in 2014. During his time in the United States, Liam shared the stage with and studied under such greats as Carl Schroeder (Sara Vaughan), Greg Harrison (Hed P.E., P.D.P.), Scott Henderson (Tribal Tech, Chick Corea Elektric Band), and Alex Macachek (FAT, Virgil Donati).

Liam’s passion for music began at an early age with the violin, performing with both the Mississauga Youth Orchestra and the P.C.S.S. Advanced Chamber String Ensemble. In later years, he also enthusiastically mastered the guitar, and he has been performing in various bands with styles ranging from the blues to jazz to classic rock to heavy metal ever since. His specialties include improvisation, performance, and combining contemporary techniques with classical knowledge.

An accomplished performer and instructor, Liam brings a wealth of musicianship and knowledge to his teaching, creating an easygoing yet informative and stimulating learning environment for his students.

 

Piano Teacher Etobicoke Music piano lessons David Miele – Piano

David Miele has been playing piano for 20 years and has extensive experience with both classical and popular music. He holds a Bachelor of Music from McGill University in classical piano, and he composes, sings, and produces his own electronic pop music.
David’s approach to teaching involves balancing solid, formal training with students’ personal interests so that they can learn to express themselves musically in a variety of ways and ultimately excel in the styles of music they are passionate about. David wishes to encourage creativity in his students, help them experience the joy of playing, and impart to them the skills necessary to do so with ease.
